Kratom and Herbal Stimulants for Energy

Fatigue and lethargy can have a profoundly negative impact on your ability to be productive, happy, and healthy. This leaves many individuals searching for natural herbal stimulants for energy, as many man-made products carry serious side effects such as unpleasant “edginess,” the “jitters,” and insomnia. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution to this problem, many have found that they benefit from some of the more stimulating kratom strains, along with other botanicals. At Kratora, we sell a variety of kratom strains, along with a number of other plant-based products such as mitragyna hirsuta and sakae naa (also known as combretum quadrangulare).

Are Stimulating Kratom Strains Really Effective?

Kratom (mitragyna speciosa) is harvested from a tree that’s in the same family as the coffee bean tree, although its mechanism for bringing stimulating effects is quite different. Kratom contains a wide variety of different alkaloid compounds which have an impact on a number of different receptors in the brain. Some of these alkaloids act upon the μ-opioid receptors, which are known to have “a high affinity for enkephalins and beta-endorphin, but a low affinity for dynorphins.” As a result, many strains of kratom can be quite effective in having a stimulating effect.

All products sold on Kratora’s website is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition.  All of our products on this website are not sold for human consumption and are for incense or ethnobotanical research purposes only.

It’s important to note that each variety and strain of kratom has a unique blend of alkaloids and other compounds. This is what accounts for the differences in terms of the effects from the different kratom strains. Kratom comes in three varieties: green vein, red vein, and white vein, which refers to the color of the veins and stem running through the plant’s leaves. There are also fairly significant differences between the many kratom strains, which are usually named for the region where that particular type of kratom was predominantly grown or traded. White vein kratom, green vein varieties, and Maeng Da strains are generally regarded as the best kratom for energy and stimulation.

Green and white vein kratom strains tend to be regarded as the most stimulating kratom varieties, with strains such as green Thai, Maeng Da (which, translated, literally means “pimp grade”), white vein Borneo kratom, Maeng Da Indo Kratom and white vein Maeng Da leading the pack.

How Do Other Herbs and Plants Promote Greater Energy Levels?

Each plant has its own unique combination of compounds, so the precise mechanism for promoting greater energy levels and stimulation varies significantly from plant to plant. Other variables include the amount, the quality of the plant, the way in which the plant has been processed, and the individual’s unique chemistry. Alkaloids are typically one of the key compounds that account for a plant’s effects, although there is quite a bit of variation in terms of the concentration for each alkaloid.

What Are Some of the Most Stimulating Herbs and Botanicals?

Notably, kratom isn’t the only botanical that has been used by native cultures in an effort to combat lethargy. Stimulating herbs and plants include kratom’s cousin, mitragyna hirsuta, along with kanna and combretum quadrangulare or sakae naa. Kratora carries a number of natural stimulating plant products, including the following items which have been prized throughout many indigenous cultures and numerous generations.

  • Mitragyna hirsuta – A relative of kratom, mitragyna hirsuta is also called kra thum khok. The plant is native to Southeast Asia, where local cultures have used the plant for many generations thanks to its stimulant properties. The key alkaloid contained within mitragyna hirsuta is called mitraphylline. Studies have found that mitraphylline can improve mood and even pain levels.
  • Sakae naa – Sakae naa or combretum quadrangulare is harvested from a small tree that’s native to Southeast Asian nations such as Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Native cultures have long held this tree in high regard, believing it had magical powers because it brought feelings of stimulation, energy, and euphoria.
  • Kanna – Kanna or sceletium tortuosum is a succulent plant that’s native to South Africa. Native African cultures, such as the Hotentot Tribe, have long favored kanna for its effects as a stimulant, which also brings a sense of euphoria and relieves discomfort. Kanna is also known by the name “kuogoed” or “channa” and it’s a plant that has not really been widely available outside of South Africa until fairly recently. Its active compounds include mesembrine, mesembrenol, mesembrenone, and tortusamine.
