Kratom Strains Explained

Kratom is an exciting herb that is new to many people. Researchers are busy understanding the science behind how and why kratom can have so many beneficial effects. Most kratom users already are familiar with the plant’s properties, for example, its relaxing or energizing aromas.

Kratom Strains Guide

You will notice that kratom varieties can be easily recognized and separated. To understand more about how kratom strains are explained, let’s look at the different vein colors.

Red-Vein Kratom

One of the most popular varieties, red-vein kratom is very soothing. Red-vein kratom comes from the most mature kratom trees. It tends to have the highest level of 7-hydroxymitragynine in it. This molecule is a terpenoid indole alkaloid that comes from kratom leaves specifically. This is what makes it so useful for easing discomfort.

Processing red kratom leaves requires a lot of light. In some instances, the process may involve fermentation. Many find the relaxing aroma good for easing day-to-day pain and quieting the mind.

White-Vein Kratom

White-vein kratom has the opposite effect. White-vein kratom helps with wakefulness and has a stimulating aroma. It helps users feel more alert and productive.

White kratom comes from young kratom trees. It is harvested while the trees have not matured and the leaves are new, hence the white-ish color — the leaves haven’t had a chance to develop a richer color yet. These leaves are dried indoors without any light. The white kratom leaves have the highest level of mitragynine in them. Mitragynine is an indole-based alkaloid known for soothing discomfort and offering a boost of energy.

The uplifting aroma of white-vein kratom can be beneficial when users need additional focus, creativity, and productivity. It can also boost one’s mood. For this reason, users of white-vein kratom tend to find it more beneficial during the day rather than unwinding in the evening.

Green-Vein Kratom

Green-vein kratom combines the soothing effect of the red-vein kratom and the energizing effect of the white-vein. The leaves are harvested when the tree is not quite mature. These leaves are dried indoors, then moved outside to complete the drying process.

Green-vein kratom has a mildly energizing aroma. It is less intense than white-vein kratom, making it good for users who want to feel more attentive without a huge spike in energy, for example when needing to tackle long-winded tasks.

Green-vein kratom can encourage relaxation and soothe mild discomfort and worry. There are trace levels of 7-hydroxymitragynine in green-vein kratom leaves, differing from the higher concentration found in red-vein kratom.
