Blue Lotus Powder

From: $11.99

Blue lotus (nymphaea caerulea) is not a true lotus flower; it’s actually a beautiful water lily that has been favored for its medicinal properties since ancient times.

Known by several names, including blue Egyptian lotus, Egyptian water lily and blue water lily, the blue lotus is a discomfort reliever, aphrodisiac and it even has some psychoactive properties.

The medicinal properties of the blue lotus were discovered thousands of years ago and it was a favorite amongst the ancient Egyptians and the ancient Mayan civilization. The blue lotus is even prominently featured in ancient Egyptian mythology and artwork. Today, the blue lotus still grows along the Nile River and in some areas of Asia (although in ancient times, the flower was far more widespread, extending to the Americas where it was utilized by the Mayans.)

Notably, some countries have banned blue lotus, including the UK, Russia, Poland and Latvia. But it remains legal in the United States.

The US FDA has not approved this herb to be sold for internal use. Sold for external use only.

Blue lotus effects are many and varied. The active chemical in blue lotus is apomorphine, which is widely used by the pharmaceutical industry to treat erectile dysfunction and even Parkinson’s disease. Apomorphine has also been used as an “off-label” remedy for opioid addiction withdrawal symptoms too.

Blue lotus is an all-natural discomfort reliever for occasional discomfort.

Users also favor blue lotus for its abilities to bring about a mild euphoria and a unique, dreamy mental state. Once asleep, vivid dreams are often reported.

Blue lotus is most commonly enjoyed as a tea, which must be steeped for a period of 25 to 30 minutes. It blends well with other teas. The minimum dosage required to bring about effects is five grams, which is approximately two teaspoons. A dosage of 10 grams is considered moderate, while 15+ grams constitutes a heavier dosage.

The time from dosage to the onset of effects is around 20 minutes. The effects usually last around two hours.

The blue lotus flower head and petals can be soaked in alcohol over a span of at least two weeks to make a potent tincture. Many use wine for the tincture, which enhances the blue lily’s sedative effects.

It’s also possible to smoke the blue lotus flower, creating effects that are similar to marijuana, but without the paranoia or anxiety that is common when smoking cannabis. The effects tend to be far more mild when smoked, as many struggle to smoke the five gram minimum that is required to produce effects.

When trying blue lotus, it’s important to start with a conservative dosage. Wait at least 20 minutes after taking the first dosage and if you prefer stronger effects, you may consider an additional dosage. Beware that in large quantities, blue lotus can cause nausea and vomiting.
