Very similar to Kratom, I would even compare it to a white strain in my opinion. Pretty stimulating, yet very relaxing. However, a drawback to it is that it comes down fairly quickly (2-3hours) and therefore you need to take smaller maintenance doses after your first big one if you want to maintain a certain level for pain relief or to keep energized. The other drawback is having to take a massive dose upfront (15-20g) but for what you get from it, overall, it’s worth it. If you love Kratom, this is worth a shot in my opinion. Especially with the consistent threat of a Kratom ban. It also can be a in between for Kratom strains if you are doing a rotation as it doesn’t seem to impact Kratom tolerance.

Mitragyna hirsuta, also known as kra thum khok, is closely related to kratom (mitragyna speciosa.)
Mitragyna hirsuta offers a unique blend of stimulant effects at a lower dosage and sedative properties at a higher dosage.
This plant is native to Southeast Asia, where it grows in nature throughout Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Mitragyna hirsuta is made from the dried, crushed leaves of the plant.
The US FDA has not approved this herb to be sold for internal use. Sold for external use only.

The active alkaloid within mitragyna hirsuta is called mitraphylline. This alkaloid has opiate-like effects on the brain’s opiate receptors. Mitraphylline is also found in kratom and in cat’s claw, which is derived from the bark of the uncaria tomentosa plant.
Mitragyna hirsuta offers an energy boost in a more moderate dose, whereas higher dosages bring sedative and discomfort relieving effects. Mitragyna hirsuta is ideal for those seeking a natural remedy for mild to moderate discomfort.
Additionally, mitragyna hirsuta is said to have some cannabis-like effects. It does not produce the psychoactive effects as is typical with cannabis, but there is a milder, more physical feeling that is very comparable to cannabis.
Other mitragyna hirsuta benefits include lowered blood pressure, increased brain oxygenation and antioxidant properties.
Effects typically last for 3 to 4 hours.
Mitragyna hirsuta is available in crushed leaf or powdered leaf form. Extracts and tinctures are sometimes available commercially or you can make them at home.
The following is a guide to mitragyna hirsuta dosages:
Brew mitragyna hirsuta tea by steeping the crushed or powdered leaf in hot water for 30 minutes. Then, drink slowly over the course of 30 minutes.
You can also place the mitragyna hirsuta into capsules or opt for a “toss and wash” method.”
Effects typically arise within 15 to 20 minutes.
