Kratom Extract: What You Need to Know About Our Enhanced Extracts

Extracts

For those who don’t know what is kratom extract, it is very simply a large amount of kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) that has been condensed into a smaller amount of powder. Through the use of various extraction techniques, the amount of leaf material is able to be reduced while conserving the potency of the kratom’s natural alkaloids—mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine (also known as 7OHM). This results in a final enhanced kratom powder with a much higher concentration of alkaloids while maintaining the natural ratios of the leaf’s chemical composition.

What the number at the beginning of the product name tells you is how many grams of leaf material was used to produce 1 gram of extract. That means that the 50x extract contains roughly twice the concentration of alkaloids per gram as the 25x extract.

Enhanced Kratom

Our enhanced strains achieve a high potency using different methods of extraction. Instead of concentrating large quantities of leaf material into a smaller extract, the leaf is ground into a very fine micro-powder and then enhance this base powder with ultra-pure 7OHM and mitragynine alkaloids.

You may notice that two of the products are labeled “ultra enhanced” and the third is labeled “super enhanced.” The difference between these two labels is in the amount of alkaloids added per 25 grams of leaf powder. The “ultra enhanced” kratom powders have an additional 1500 mg of alkaloids added per 25 g, whereas the “super enhanced” powder only has an additional 500 mg of alkaloids added per 25 g. The standard alkaloid enhancement in Ultra Enhanced Indo Kratom is 1250 mg, making our UEI kratom the strongest on the market by 20%!

How Kratom Extracts Are Made

What is the kratom extract process? There are two types of bases that can allow the active components of kratom to be extracted successfully: alcohol bases (such as ethanol) and acid bases (such as vinegar).

Boiled in an Ethanol Solution

To make 1 kilogram of extract-enhanced kratom, 25 to 50 kilograms of fresh, organic kratom leaves are boiled in a large pot with twice as much ethanol as leaf material. This mixture needs to be stirred constantly for a few days to help the separation of the extracted compounds to occur more readily.

Dried from Liquid Concentrate

The combination of heat and alcohol draw out the active components of the kratom leaf and allow these to be condensed into a potent liquid that is obtained by pressing the leaf powder that had been boiled with ethanol. After extracting the maximum amount of liquid possible, the liquid is placed within a spray container and sprayed onto large trays made of glass to dry. Once dry, the liquid is crystallized with a scratching method to produce the final extract enhanced kratom powder.

It might seem like a long and difficult process, but the end result makes it all worth it!

How to Use Kratom Extract and Enhanced Kratom

What is the best kratom extract? As mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, extracts and enhanced preparations of kratom are designed to be used in far smaller amounts than plain leaf powder. If you can imagine how concentrated the alkaloids are in these extracts, you will understand why you wouldn’t use the same amount!

We generally recommend that new kratom users stick with the plain leaf powder for a while before trying the enhanced and extract versions. Then, start with the smallest amount of enhanced kratom possible and slowly build up until you find what works best for you. Users should exercise particular caution with the Ultra Enhanced Maeng Da—the plain-leaf strain used to make this enhanced version is already the strongest currently available, so an ultra-enhanced version is especially potent.
