Green Kratom: All You Need to Know About Our Green Vein Strains

Deep in the lush, tropical forests of Southeast Asia, hundreds of leafy evergreen trees grow in relative solitude. For centuries, locals have harvested the leaves of these trees. According to botanists, the plant is called mitragyna speciosa, but locals refer to it with a different name — the kratom tree.

For years, the western world remained largely unacquainted with green leaf kratom. However, as with many global commodities, kratom eventually started to gain traction and popularity outside of its native regions of Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. Hundreds of kratom farmers began exporting large quantities of ground kratom leaves around the world, with many exports bearing distinctive names like “Maeng Da” and “Bali.”

To help buyers distinguish between the aromatic effects of green vein kratom and other strains, sellers implemented a loose method of classifying kratom by vein and leaf coloration. This system of organization allowed customers to choose from red, white, and green leaf kratom variants — or “strains” — with each supposedly possessing unique characteristics and traits.

Nevertheless, to this day, the subject of kratom vein coloration continues to be a source of confusion for both newcomers and kratom veterans. So, with so many strains available, what really sets green kratom apart, and does the differentiation between strains ultimately matter? Let’s find out!

A Brief History of Green Leaf Kratom

Like all forms of kratom, green vein kratom begins with the broad, glossy leaves of the mitragyna speciosa tree. Farmers from across Southeast Asia typically grow dozens of kratom trees at a time, and because the tree is evergreen, a generous quantity of leaves are available year-round.

During their lifespan, green kratom leaves naturally change color over time, turning from red to green, to yellow or white, and finally, brown. Therefore, a kratom strain’s coloration is dependent on when its leaves were picked, or “harvested,” and green kratom is the result of picking semi-matured, green-veined leaves.

Upon completing a harvest, kratom farmers either hang their leaves or place them on racks to dry in the sun. This process is called “curing,” and purportedly alters the levels of naturally-occurring alkaloids in the plant’s leaves, resulting in the development of green vein kratom’s unique aromatic effects. To create specialty green leaf kratom strains, some kratom farmers will often resort to alternative techniques such as fermentation and shade-drying.

When the leaves have finished drying, farmers will then utilize industrial grinders to grind large batches of leaves, producing the fine-grain powder that many kratom lovers are familiar with.

What Makes Green Leaf Kratom Unique?

Contrary to what you might believe, the differences between kratom colors aren’t purely cosmetic. Due to several factors, including the coloration of kratom leaves at harvest and the drying and processing methods utilized, all three kratom colors possess distinctive aromas.

Generally speaking, green leaf kratom’s aroma is known for being somewhat stimulating and somewhat relaxing. Some consider green kratom’s effects to exist in a sort of “middle-ground” between the heavily relaxing aroma of red kratom and the energizing aroma of white kratom.

Many buyers find that green kratom’s aroma acts as a quick “pick-me-up,” providing them with a calming sense of energy and focus. Others find that green kratom produces an aroma that’s similar to white vein kratom, but isn’t nearly as overstimulating to the senses.

Buying Green Vein Kratom & the Effects of Different Products

In today’s world, buying green kratom is simple and straightforward. While it’s often possible to purchase kratom locally from select storefronts, buying kratom online is generally more convenient and less expensive.

However, with hundreds of kratom sellers available online, it’s essential to be keenly aware of what you’re buying and where it’s coming from. By purchasing green leaf kratom through a trusted, reliable source, you’ll be able to minimize your risk of receiving a potentially compromised or adulterated product.

To stay safe, always check to verify that a vendor’s kratom is:

  • All-natural and organic
  • Freshly sourced
  • Free of chemical, filler, and additive ingredients

Green Kratom Strains & Product Varieties

As with any kratom color, most vendors sell a sizeable selection of green leaf kratom strains. Some popular green kratom strains include:

Although kratom powder is the most widely available form of kratom, many retailers also sell various alternative green leaf kratom products.

  • Kratom Powders are fine-grain, loose leaf powders. These are generally reasonably priced and offer great value in comparison to their more expensive counterparts.
  • Kratom Extracts are powders produced via a delicate extraction process, resulting in a higher alkaloid concentration but a heftier price tag.
  • Enhanced Kratom Powders are standard kratom powders that are strengthened with added alkaloids, resulting in extremely potent, premium-grade powders.
