Kratora’s Collection of Organic Asian Kratom and Ethnobotanicals
Mitragyna Speciosa
Mitragyna speciosa—commonly known as kratom—is a Southeast Asian tree that grows in the jungle areas of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea. The leaves are traditionally chewed by laborers as a natural stimulant and are valued for their relaxing and soothing qualities in larger doses. Kratom has been used in traditional Southeast-Asian medicine as a local remedy for fever, diarrhea, and as a poultice for wounds.
In the Kratora collection of Asian ethnobotanicals, we are pleased to bring you several different types of kratom powder —including green, red, and white strains from:
- Indonesia
- Borneo
- Sumatra
- Bali
- Kalimantan
- Malaysia
Each variety in our organic kratom collection offers a distinct aroma and profile of effects, with the red strains typically being the most relaxing and the green and white strains typically being more energizing. Check out our past blog posts to learn more about the different types of kratom and their uses!
Mitragyna Hirsuta
A close relative of kratom, Mitragyna hirsuta is a tall tree that grows in the rainforests of Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Mitragyna Hirsuta is popular as a kratom replacement in places like Thailand where kratom is illegal and is known on the streets as “kra thum khok.” Like organic kratom, this alternative to different types of kratom available in Asia is traditionally chewed fresh to help workers keep up their stamina.
Sakae Naa
Another substitute for the different types of kratom is Sakae Naa or Combretum quadrangulare. This rainforest tree grows in wetland areas and along riverbanks in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. It produces leaves that are said by some to be similar in appearance to organic kratom, although others say the leaves have a distinct, incense-like aroma that is quite different from kratom. When comparing Sakae Naa to different types of kratom, you might find that its stimulating qualities make it more similar to green or white kratom strains rather than the more relaxing red strains.
Expand Your Horizons with These Tropical Asian Herbs
If you love the different types of kratom available at Kratora, then you could also benefit from these soothing and stimulating herbs from India and China. Used as part of the local systems of medicine for centuries, these herbs are widely available around the world today.
Ginger and Turmeric: Gentle Soothers
Best known as culinary spices, the ginger root (Zingiber officinale) from Southeast Asia and turmeric (Curcuma longa) from India have been shown to have natural soothing qualities. Both of these plants are part of the Zingiberaceae (ginger) family and, like organic kratom, thrive in warm and humid climates.
Ginger
Seen as a luxury some 5,000 years ago, ginger can now be found pretty much anywhere in the world and has a number of health benefits. Ginger boosts the immune system, can help to settle the stomach, and may even assist with recovery after exercise. A 2015 review examined the effect of ginger on resistance runners and found that 2 grams of ginger per day helped slightly with muscle pain and worked to reduce post-exercise inflammation. You can easily complement the different types of kratom in your routine by including ginger in your smoothies, stir-fries, teas, and soups.
Turmeric
Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory that was observed to be as effective for pain management as Ibuprofen in a study on knee osteoarthritis patients. Turmeric also had fewer side effects than the Ibuprofen. Many Indian recipes use turmeric as a spice for flavoring, and you can whip up some “golden milk” to enjoy turmeric along with milk, honey, and other spices before bedtime. Like organic kratom, you can also use turmeric as a powder temporarily for a stronger soothing effect when needed.
Ginseng for a Natural Energy Boost
If you’re looking for different types of kratom and herbs that can boost your energy naturally, ginseng from China and the betel nut from India are two natural herbs that could help get you up and moving.
Ginseng
Ginseng (or Ginseng panax) is a root from China that is one of the most popular herbal supplements in the world today. This highly-prized root is used as a tonic, energizer, immune-system booster, and as a natural way to increase the user’s resistance to stress.
